Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery

Project Summary

Structural and civil consulting services for the new Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery. Building structure included a precast braced box with steel framed roof for the main section of the building with a fully steel framed structure for the feature “Wintergarden” café with a curved roof. Adams Consulting Engineers used 12d to model all paving longitudinal sections and cross sections to accurately design the internal access roads, 220 visitor car spaces, bus drop off and parking zones, staff car parking and heavy vehicle loading zones, as well as assisting with bulk earthworks for sound barrier mounds. Adams also oversaw the development of the stormwater management from the initial concept phase using MUSIC to ensure the proposed Water Sensitive Urban Design elements satisfy Best Practice treatment targets in a functional design layout. Council approval was achieved for the Stormwater Management Plan via consultation and this was incorporated into the detailed design for the site civil works. This development also required the detailed design of a dam for stormwater reuse and a 2450m3 wastewater winter storage dam to satisfy EPA requirements.
