Architecture Matters engaged Adams to provide comprehensive structural and civil consulting services for the upgrade and expansion of an animal welfare facility in Epping. The project aimed to meet the needs of a growing population by increasing the animal accommodation capacity and improving the overall amenities for both animals and staff.
The upgraded facility was designed to house up to 110 dogs, 120 cats, and other small animals. To ensure the well-being and comfort of the animals, custom-designed, air-conditioned accommodation areas and exercise yards were incorporated into the facility. Separate areas were also allocated for stray livestock, creating a versatile and inclusive space.
The project also included a large covered yard dedicated to the secure management of council vehicles used for animal collection. This multifunctional area provided facilities for vehicle washout and staff amenities, ensuring the efficient operation of the facility.
