Exford Primary School

1137-1147 Exford Road, Exford

The scope of the project involved the modernization and upgrade of an existing building into a fully resourced contemporary school. The primary objectives were to ensure the safe and functional operation of the school during the construction phases, accommodate the school’s growing needs, and adhere to building quality guidelines set by the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA). Additionally, the project aimed to establish vital infrastructure services to ensure the long-term viability of the school.

Stage 1 of the project focused on the modernisation and upgrade of the existing school building. The structural modifications during this stage aimed to improve the functionality, safety, and overall condition of the existing structure.
Stage 2 involved the construction of a new single-level classroom building. The structural design of this building considered factors such as load-bearing capacity, seismic resistance, and optimal space utilisation to create a conducive learning environment for students.

Throughout both stages of the project, collaboration between structural engineers, architects, and construction teams was essential to ensure the seamless integration of the new structures with the existing building and infrastructure.

Successful completion of Stage 1 in July 2022, which included an administration building, formal school entrance, junior learning base building with eight general learning areas (GLAs), student amenities, landscaping, infrastructure upgrades, and integration with existing relocatable buildings.

The project aimed to address challenges related to essential services, such as water, sewer, stormwater, and power and telecom connections.

Ensuring safe and functional operation of the school throughout planned multistage construction phases.
