The Ivanhoe Gardens project, situated in the charming suburb of Ivanhoe, Melbourne, Australia, is a dynamic and ongoing construction endeavour. Comprising of four mixed-use residential towers in two stages, this development showcases a harmonious blend of contemporary design and sustainable living.
The complex spans an impressive range of 6 to 14 storeys, with an additional 5 basement levels, providing ample space for a total of 514 thoughtfully designed apartments and townhouses. The diversity of configurations and sizes ensures that residents can find their perfect home to suit their unique lifestyle preferences.

Challenges

The project required a phased approach with two buildings constructed in the first stage and two in the second. Simultaneously considering the impacts of each stage on the other was crucial for seamless integration.

The natural ground level difference between each side of the site presented a significant challenge. To accommodate this, the eastern side required five basement levels, necessitating careful planning and engineering.

Stage 2 of the project had to be built over an already constructed section of the Stage 1 basement. This added complexity to the construction process and required precise coordination and integration.

A full permanent movement joint was necessary to connect the two stages while maintaining a cohesive appearance across the entire development. This required meticulous design and execution to ensure a seamless transition.
